Status enews - Issue 11, 2012

Friday night saw another exciting game at Etihad Stadium with Collingwood vs Western Bulldogs. Collingwood got its 2012 campaign well and truly rolling with a 21 point win over the Western Bulldogs. The Bulldogs' intensity shocked Collingwood; they entered the game as fierce contenders, but weren't good enough to win this round.

On Saturday, Lance Franklin and Cyril Rioli inspired Hawthorn to a comfortable win against St Kilda at the MCG. A superb six goal performance by Hawthorn's Rioli propelled Hawthorn to a 35 point win. Sydney's perfect start to the year has ended in more ways then one, losing the game to Adelaide and an injury to co-captain Adam Goodes at the SCG. Sydney has now fallen to equal second spot with 4 other contenders.

Richmond beat Port Adelaide by 37 points in a patchy display at AAMI Stadium on Sunday. Leading by 47 points early in the third term, Richmond then failed to kick a goal for more then a quarter before registering their 37 point win. And West Coast has equalled its best start to the season since 2007, beating North Melbourne by 25 points at Patersons Stadium on Sunday to notch its sixth consecutive win. West Coast defied a mounting injury toll to win against North Melbourne in a tight, high pressure match.

Congratulations are in order for Jessica Davis of Status Marion. Jess, this week's winner, successfully selected 9 wins from 9 games played, with an adjusted margin of 4. Enjoy your prize Jess and good luck for the rest of the season.

Melanie is an experienced administrator who holds a Certificate IV in Business Frontline Management. She has excellent communication, organisational and time management skills and pays close attention to detail. Melanie would like to continue in her chosen career path as an administrator and is keen to commence employment in administration or reception immediately. Melanie has her own car and a valid driver’s licence and is currently residing in Salisbury East.

Rex has completed a Diploma in Electronics and Communications and is seeking employment where his skills and knowledge may be utilised to his employer's benefit. He is able to quickly acquire new skills and can work well within a team environment or autonomously. Rex has obtained valuable customer service and communication skills through previous employment. He is residing in Valley View, has a valid driver’s licence and is able to commence employment immediately. Rex is an achiever who takes great pride in all that he does.

This year we have made some changes to our competition. Firstly, tippers will be restricted to winning one weekly prize only. If you are our best tipper of the week, as determined by the AFL website, on more than one occasion, you will always enjoy the bragging rights but will only receive the weekly prize once. The prize instead, will be awarded to the person achieving second place, unless that person has also won previously, in which case it will be awarded to the third placed person and, so on.

Secondly, where there is more than one winner in a round, the weekly prize will be awarded to the tipper with the lowest cumulative margin, as determined by the AFL Footy Tipping website.
